New bars means drink specials!

A new bar in Davis Sq ! Can't wait to try it!

Foundry opened today in Davis Square and seems full of dark wood, an endless marbletop bar, mirrors and red leather stools. It has 32 beers on tap, a full menu and promises 'fine food, proper ale' on it's website. Offerings include fancy bar eats like poutine, steak frites, coq au vin and $5 drink specials on Monday and Sunday.

Week 1

Ok, so Scott and I decided we are doing the Madison Turkey Trot again. It is a 5 mile run on Thanksgiving day. Instead of barely training and hoping I don't die during the run, I am going to train for this. I looked up a couch to 5 miler in 10 weeks program and found one that seems pretty simple to follow. I created a document to track what I do by week. Below is the week one formula. Last night I did a 2 mile run/walk. I know it says one mile, but this is COUCH (i.e. no working out, no physical activity) to 5 miles, so I figure why not try to start out with what I can do.

Week 1:
Walk 1/2 lap, then jog 1/2 lap, walk a half, jog a half for 1 mile.
You will alternate jogging & running 8 times (4 each) and complete 4 full laps, that's exactly 1 mile.
Now no matter how good you feel, go home.
Do this 4 to 6 days a week. Never less than 4 days or more than 6 days weekly.

trivia tues.

Last night, Lori, Beth and I went to Trivia at Old Magoun's Saloon near my house. We ALMOST WON!! we didn't wager enough points at the end, but came in 3rd. So, now we have a $15 gift certificate for next time.

Lori jumped right into the fall season and ordered some Shipyard Pumpkin ale - which is my favorite Pumpkin-esque beer. (Though I still love me some Sammy Octoberfest) Anyway - the semi foam left on top had an interesting shape to it, and so of course I took a picture. We determined it looked like a pumpkin, I think it is a pumpkin eating a cat. Mostly, I think the pumpkin on the side of the glass looks cool.

A few weeks ago, Scott and I bought cheeses for cheese & crackers one night that we grilled. At this local store near his house, we found a tomato basil cheese. It was SOO good. This weekend, I found one in Stop and Shop! Cabot makes one, and it is fantastic on a turkey sandwich!!

Social cues

Apparently you can post to blogger by emailing your site, if you set it up. If this works, then I did it right!

What happened to people understanding social cues? If you are on the phone, clearly you cannot have a conversation with someone standing in front of you. Or, if there is a pause in the conversation, and someone walks away, the conversation is over. Or, if you are eating breakfast at your desk, and answering emails, then maybe you don't have time to hear random stories about how your co workers husband is still at home sleeping and not at work because he fell asleep playing Xbox.

4th weekend

Scott came up to Boston for the 4th. We attempted fireworks in the city but it was so crowded, we left before it started! I was glad to be home to watch, rather than fighting a million sweaty, pushy people.

The next day we went to the Charlestown Navy Yard. It was SO HOT. But we went to the USS Constitution museum, and on the boat!

Lake Pawtuckaway

In June, we went camping with Jen, Colleen, Emmett, Lori, Beth, and Emmett's friends - Ben, his gf Erica and their friend Mike. We had great spots right on the lake, which we kayaked and floated out on, enjoying beer, and tethering to each other. Can't wait to go back next year!

roommate search

Ughhhh it is that time again. Time to post to Craigslist. We got a few responses and were hopeful. We had arranged to meet Kate, Janet, Sara, Elizabeth and Kristy.
Kate was nice, quiet, and seemed promising.
Janet and Elizabeth cancelled because we were not as close to the T as they had hoped.
Sara cancelled because she is no longer leaving her apartment.
Kristy just wasn't really our speed, and didn't seem like someone we were 100% interested in living with.
We offered the apt to Kate, who informed us that she determined she cannot afford to move out of where she is.
Back to craigslist, and now roommates.com
Craigslist brought us Ilona. She was.. interesting. A bit older (40?), a bit strung out, a musician. She would not fit in with us.
This is not fun.

One Year

On June 2, this pretty princess turned ONE! Lauren had a party for her on Sunday, which I missed some of, sadly, since I was en route from CT after the wedding. But, when I came by later, Miss Lyla was excited to hang out.
